Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penguatan pendidikan
karakter melalui kesenian pencak silat di Paguron Purwa Kencana,
Karawang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif
dengan data yang diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan pengurus,
pelatih, tokoh masyarakat, orang tua, dan peserta didik. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa pencak silat berperan penting sebagai sarana
pembentukan lima nilai karakter utama, yaitu religius, nasionalis,
mandiri, gotong-royong, dan integritas. Nilai religius dikembangkan
melalui pembiasaan perilaku berakhlak mulia dan disiplin dalam
menjalankan ajaran agama. Nilai nasionalis tumbuh melalui kecintaan
terhadap budaya lokal, pelestarian warisan leluhur, serta pemahaman
sejarah pencak silat. Nilai mandiri diperkuat melalui latihan yang
menuntut kerja keras, tanggung jawab, kedisiplinan, dan pengendalian
diri. Nilai gotong-royong terbentuk melalui solidaritas, komunikasi, serta
kerja sama dalam setiap kegiatan latihan maupun pertunjukan. Adapun
nilai integritas diperkuat melalui keteladanan etika, sikap konsisten,
kejujuran, dan ketangguhan mental. Secara keseluruhan, pencak silat
terbukti efektif sebagai media pendidikan karakter bagi peserta didik.
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the strengthening of character education
through the traditional martial art of pencak silat at Paguron Purwa
Kencana, Karawang. The research employed a descriptive qualitative
approach, with data collected through interviews involving
administrators, coaches, community leaders, parents, and students. The
findings indicate that pencak silat plays a significant role in cultivating
five core character values: religiousness, nationalism, independence,
cooperation, and integrity. Religious values are developed through
consistent moral guidance and the practice of spiritual discipline.
Nationalism emerges through appreciation of local culture, preservation
of ancestral heritage, and understanding the historical roots of pencak
silat. Independence is strengthened as training activities require hard
work, responsibility, discipline, and self-control. Cooperation is fostered
through solidarity, communication, and teamwork during practice and
performances. Integrity is reinforced through ethical modeling,
consistency, honesty, and mental resilience. Overall, pencak silat proves
to be an effective medium for holistic character education and
contributes meaningfully to the development of students’ personality
and behavior.
